Item description for Toscana para dos by Juan Luis Trejo Alvarez Susan Elizabeth Phillips...
Lately it seems Dr. Isabel, America's favorite self-help guru, can fix everyone's life but her own. Even the shelter of a simple stone farmhouse nestled in an olive grove fails to provide Isabel with the refuge she needs. But when the viciously handsome and sublimely talented screen actor Lorenzo Gage spots Isabel sipping a glass of wine in a sidewalk caf, his immediate infatuation takes them both by surprise. A good guy wouldn't think of seducing such a tidy-looking woman, but Ren Gage never saw the fun in playing the hero.

Self-help guru Dr. Isabel Favor has fallen out of favor with her fans, as her own life is falling apart. Her accountant swindled her fortune, her fiance left her for another woman, and her fair weather fans have dumped her. To gain a little breathing room, she rents a house in Tuscany. While there, she runs into a sexy Italian at a cafe whom she mistakes for a gigolo and they have a one night stand. She flees as soon as he heads for the shower. Imagine her shock when she arrives in the Tuscan countryside and her landlord is the sexy Italian... only he is actually Hollywood bad boy Lorenzo Gage. While she vows not to fall into bed with him again, he soon makes a liar out of her, and the two engage in a passionate no strings affair, with neither admitting that they just might want some strings. When his ex-wife arrives with her family, Ren finds his world turned upside down and heads for the cottage to bunk with Isabel, who feels compelled to provide couples therapy.
Ren is getting ready to star in a career making vehicle, again as the bad guy. Isabel uses her psychoanalytical mumbo jumbo to get to the root as to why he chooses to portray such dark characters, since she thinks that deep down he is hero material. As their time together starts to end, will either let their hair down and share their true feelings?
"Breathing Room" is not as good as some of SEP's other novels, but her trademark humor and unmistakable talent to create chemistry between her lead characters drips off of each page, gluing the reader to the story, and making all of us believers in happy endings.
