420 pages of Attractive reading material for your new reader! Aug 17, 2006
This is a superb first Bible Reader for your beginning reader! Packed with 420 beautifully illustrated and written pages, this will retain the attention of your new reader. Super bright and wonderfully illustrated pictures, creatively written as to teach repetitive phonics sounds throughout each Bible story! Each rhyming storing will reinforce Bibles stories to your new reader, told in a way your child has never heard. Stories are interpreted a little less formal and with a kid friendly approach, maybe to some this may be a turn off, we enjoyed it. Each story chapter focusses on a particular phonics sound, like SH, throughout the story, many words will be highlighted in red that have the SH combination. Each story focusses on a different phonics sound, how creative to highlight those special sounds! Kids easily recognize that sound and through repitition, they get drilled and master that sound. Classic Bible stories illustrated so children will learn the Bible facts as well as reading fundamentals, super concept! No problems with the binding wearing out, my book has held up very well.
Fantastic, but watch the binding! Jun 18, 2006
My 2 and 6 year olds love this bible. They spend time memorizing the rhymes and looking at the gorgeous illustrations. However, I am planning on calling the publishers this week and asking for another copy. We've had it for 6 months and the binding is shot! The cover is separating from the rest of the book. Such a bummer. Hope they replace it for me...
Was the Pharoh a Jerk? Mar 23, 2006
I saw this Bible at a bookstore while on a road trip and grabbed it. I was excited about the phonics part. I didn't like the rhyming part in this Bible because it left the writer calling the pharoh "a jerk" just to have a word that rhymed. There was another instance of name calling as well. I didn't want a Bible reader that would leave my child in the bad habit of name-calling. These were not stories that I wanted to read over and over to my son.
I returned this Bible to the store and hope to find another Bible reader that has an emphasis on phonics.
Good Rhyming Bibles that I'd recommend are "The Rhyme Bible for Toddlers" and "The Rhyme Bible" both by L.J. Sattgast and published by ZonderKidz (both available here at this site).
Does not have a hardcopy of book Feb 16, 2006
On the cover of this CD it states that it contains the full text. I thought this meant that a hardcopy of the book was inside. This does not contain a hardcopy.. it is just for listening to.
Help kids read and learn God's word simultaneously Oct 13, 2004
We started using this as supplemental reading for our then 7 year old. The chapters were short enough for daily readings and it helped him remember basic phonics.
