Reviews - What do customers think about Playing for an Audience of One?
Great read! Feb 15, 2010
Easy to read and helpful for those like myself who are tempted to spend their lives waisting all free time and energy seeking approval and appreciation from the massively flawed exceptions of others rather than spending that effort on the One who's expectations matter most.
Insightful and Inspiring Teaching on Christian Discipleship Sep 19, 2009
In Playing for an Audience of One, Joshua Brooks encourages us to consider all aspects of our lives in relation to the living God. This is an engaging, accessible, practical, as well as deeply thought-provoking book. Joshua insightfully draws upon biblical material, supplemented with his own life experience and other resources to help you think through what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and how to walk faithfully and to mature as Jesus' disciple. This book would be extremely valuable for you whether you are exploring Christianity, are a new disciple of Jesus, or are a seasoned, long time Christ-follower. It is written with a love for the Scriptures, great wisdom and perception, obvious pastoral concern, deep conviction and passion, and high application value. It addresses common matters of the human heart with uncommon perception. It deals with such topics as personal identity, fear, surrender, failure, humility, boundaries and balance, money, people-pleasing, and Spiritual growth - all as they relate to playing for an Audience of One. I highly recommend this book!

I enjoyed everything about this book; the personal stories, the laugh out loud humor, the applicability of the gospel to life today. Reading it felt very much like a dear friend providing answers to long-nagging questions.
An engaging read! Sep 2, 2008
Practical, applicable, biblical, insightful, honest, conversational, humorous. The author does a great job of retelling the biblical stories in contemporary language. Lots of good quotes and supporting illustrations - which I (as a pastor) will be drawing upon and using in the future!
