Item description for More Than a Carpenter by Josh McDowell...
Overview Josh McDowell's timeless examination of the true nature of Christ and his impact on our lives is one of the best-selling Christian books ever (more than eight million copies in print worldwide!). Written by a former skeptic of Christianity, it is a hard-hitting book for those who doubt Jesus' deity and his purpose.
Community Description Josh McDowell thought Christians must be "out of their minds". He put them down. He argued against their faith.
But eventually he saw that his arguments wouldn't stand up. Jesus Christ really was God in human flesh. Josh became a speaker on college and university campuses, challenging those who were just as skeptical as he had been.
In More Than a Carpenter Josh focuses upon the person who changed his life -- Jesus Christ. It is a hardheaded book for people who are skeptical about Jesus' deity, his resurrection, his claims on their lives.

life changing book Dec 3, 2009
this book has really had a life changing effect on me. It is intense and I could only read 1/2 chapter at a time but finished it in less than 5 days. I would highly recommend it to anyone
Awesome book to share with a skeptic Oct 28, 2009
I bought this book and I am almost done. It's an easy read and good to loan to your friends and family who are skeptical of the authenticity of the Bible. I would encourage any believer and non-believer to read this book.
Timely Delivery Oct 23, 2009
Book came on time and in a proper package. Book was as it was described.
My question is, did anyone feel that it was a little above their IQ level.... Oct 12, 2009
I don't know if that was what Josh was trying to get at, but I was looking more for a simplified answer even though it's an extremely tough and touchy subject. But to the reader above, I felt it was a complete hack of a book with constant referencing to theologist who of course are not going to be wrong. I wanted to see their actual evidence or critical thinking not a term paper. I am christian by the way and was told to read this book by a friend but I just keep getting lost throughout the book and foreget what it was saying. Anybody else have this same opinion.
A Must Read Oct 11, 2009
This short book is a powerful one that should be read by everyone who is interested in the essential questions of life.
The author, Josh McDowell, began his journey trying to disprove Christianity and the claims of Jesus Christ. He spent 700 hours trying to do just that. In the process, he concluded that those assertions are in fact true. He packs an incredible amount of information in 168 pages. It is short enough to be read by those who are not bookworms yet thorough enough to provide a well done survey of the topic. This is not a comprehensive volume on apologetics, but it is an excellent overview.
Some of the topics covered include: 'What Makes Jesus So Different', Is he 'Lord, Liar, or Lunatic', scientific evidence, legal-historical proofs, and much more. I would challenge anyone to read this book and do further personal research on the claims of Christ and the evidences presented. It is one of those rare books that may well be life changing to readers. It is a great read whether one is already a Christian, a seeker, or anti-Christian. Highly recommended!
