Reviews - What do customers think about Rosanna of The Amish: The Restored Text?
Engaging story Oct 16, 2009
I came across a signed copy of this book years ago. It caught my attention because I lived in a rural area that was home to a large Amish community in Ohio. It was the first book I read about the Amish culture; I passed it on to my daughter to read. It was a genuine account of the life of the Amish and illustrated the warmth, family orientation and strong faith of these Plain people.
I have since lost the book and am buying a new copy because I want to read it again.
A wonderful insight into an Amish family Jun 2, 2009
We read this book to our children after purchasing it in an Amish village twenty years ago. Because of this book, my son still calls me "Momly" on occasion. When our house burned down in the San Diego fires two years ago, this is a book I wanted to replace to read again to our grandchildren one day.
Well worth the read for those who are studying the Amish and their literature Mar 14, 2009
Voluntarily cut off from the world, the Amish have crafted their own culture, and even their own literature. "Rosanna of the Amish" is a reissue of the original acclaimed work of Mennonite literature. The original text restored, it tells the story of an Irish Catholic girl brought up in Amish society, and is complete with literary discussion going over what it all means in the world of literature. "Rosanna of the Amish" is well worth the read for those who are studying the Amish and their literature.
