Item description for Wings of the Morning by Jon R. Harris...
Overview What would you do if you found yourself floating down in a parachute over enemy territory or if you knew that the airplane you were in could not make it over the ridgeline ahead of you and was certain to crash? How would you handle an aircraft just seconds from plunging into the ocean at nearly the speed of sound that was not responding to your control? These are just a few of the compelling, heart-stopping, and all too true experiences faced by Jon Harris, the first pilot of the Vietnam War to be shot down over North Vietnam and subsequently recovered during his years as a Navy jet pilot. Wings of the Morning is an anthology of aviation adventures written not just to entertain (though it does that), but also to inform and to inspire the reader through its dramatic narratives, spiritual applications, and faith-enhancing conclusions

War stories with a purpose Jun 23, 2006
Did you ever sit at your daddy's knee and listen to war stories? That's what reading this book is like. Not only does the author have many captivating stories to share - like being the first U.S. aviator shot down and rescued over North Vietnam or finding himself suddenly flying in a head-on collision course with a passenger jet - but he does so just as if you are sitting right there with him, drinking a glass of lemonade. What makes it the most personal is the feeling that you are discovering along with him, through his experiences, personal and very real applications of a personal and very real faith. That's the one-two hit of this book. It will be made exponentially more fascinating to those who are fascinated with fighter jets and aircraft carriers!
