Item description for Daniel- Bible Commentary (Everymans Bible Commentaries) by John C. Whitcomb...
Overview Designed for laypeople, this commentary deals seriously with the biblical text on Daniel without being overly technical. Introductory information, doctrinal themes, problem passages, and practical applications are examined.
Controversy has raged for centuries over the authenticity and authorship of the book of Daniel. Is it a forged document written much later to encourage Maccabean freedom fighters resisting Antiochus Epiphanes? Isn't it full of obvious historical blunders? How could Daniel have included Greek works in his Hebrew and Aramaic text? John C. Whitcomb has answered these accusations and more against the prophetic revelation of Daniel. With thorough research and thoughtful commentary he reaffirms for us the importance of the book of Daniel among the prophetic books of the Old Testament. The sovereignty of God is so evident throughout the life of Daniel the prophet that we cannot doubt the sovereign intention of Daniel the book.

Reviews - What do customers think about Daniel- Bible Commentary (Everymans Bible Commentaries)?
A Fine work-easy to understand Mar 25, 2004
Dr. Whitcomb's work on this difficult Old Testament book should be commended. He has taken a much debated book and made it easy to understand, without resorting to careless and unbiblical extremes. He views Daniel as a book written by a single author. And with great biblical importance. The Nature of the series by Moody press, makes this book easy to read and geared towards a serious lay bible student. A companion work by Jon Walvoord of Dallas Theological seminary, along with this one would give you the best complete understanding of the book of Daniel.
