Reviews - What do customers think about Relapse Prevention in Bipolar Disorder: A Treatment Manual and Workbook for Therapist and Client (Relapse Prevention Manuals series)?
Reviewed by me Jul 3, 2008
The relapse prevention titles in this series are useful tools for working with clients who have addressed many of their issues in therapy. It can be used earlier in treatment however I have found that it is difficult to maintain their integrity when a client is in crisis, so my preference is for follow-up, brief interventions following more intensive therapy. Provides a useful handout/manual for the client that so far, all my clients have found useful and preferable to other larger workbooks. A useful addition for any clinician working with these populations.
Practical and truely helpful!! May 19, 2006
Since my diagnosis two years ago this summer I've been trying to learn as much as possible about bipolar disorder and I have a range of factual books on the subject, but this book/program allowed me to go a step further and explore what it is to be bipolar for me as an individual. This has been an empowering and positive experience. I felt that the workbook format gave me a terrific help but have subsequently also bought the manual for myself, as it allows you to rethink and relearn any issues as you grow in understanding of your condition.
Everything is explained clearly and it's ever practical in that it has strategies and techniques for mood control that become tailored to you as the program progresses. Should your health worker suggest this program to you; take it!!
Highly recommended for anyone with bipolar issues.
Amazingly simple to use but so effective also as a Self-help resource Apr 18, 2006
I managed to get this amazing toolkit of manual and workbooks from this site.co.uk some time ago when it first came out in Europe. It is so simple and short-term that it has been without problems for me and my wife to go through all the exercises and discussion sections together. I now feel much better able to, not only control my moods, but also better able to ask questions of my Physicians in a constructive manner. I understand that this was meant for health professionals but it is also a powerful self-help resource. The benefits from using this simple and brief tool have been many but overall my wife summed it up by saying "After all these years we finally have a common language to discuss the problems". Thanks Dr Sorensen.
