Don't Buy John Maxwell's Leadership Books Feb 13, 2007
They are all identical. He reminds me very much of TV evangelists. No advice that is worth your money. Go buy "We Shall Not Fail: The Inspiring Leadership of Winston Churchill" or "Speak Like Churchill, Stand Like Lincoln: 21 Powerful Secrets of History's Greatest Speakers". I beg you.
challenging and strong Feb 10, 2007
Wonderful book that challenges you to reach beyond who you see yourself as and go further in dreaming of your future and goals.
Maxwell's basic manifesto on leadership Jan 18, 2007
In this early work, leadership expert John C. Maxwell lays out 10 principles of leadership and team building. According to Maxwell, leaders are not born; instead, they develop their skills throughout a lifetime of practice. Perhaps because he was a minister for 25 years, Maxwell is somewhat overly fond of well-worn anecdotes and even ditties, but some readers will find that his charts, pull-quotes, bulleted lists and cartoons help make his ideas easily accessible. We recommend this book to beginning managers who want to learn leadership and to experienced ones who want to progress farther.
Great Book on Leadership Jan 5, 2007
The anecdotes and stories are great. The instruction is motivational and helpful. John Maxwell understands both the business world and the Christian world of being a pastor. This book is about leadership, regardless of what you are the leader of. If you are struggling as a leader or are new at being a leader, I strongly recommend this book. It is also good for those who are doing well in leadership. This book is loaded with great ideas. The one negative I found was typographical errors. They were actually several of these and should have been caught, but this does not detract from the overall value of the book.
Developing the Leader Within You Nov 6, 2006
An excellent resource for leaders to determine what's important in leading people. This book covers many of the main issues and points pertinent to leaders. It's difficult to find all the things one needs to consider in one place and done well - this is one of the best ones.
