--Psalm 84:5, NASB
What a wonderful opportunity you have as a Christian in this modern age to open up the Bible and, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, glean its rich truths for yourself. Your vitality as a Christian depends on doing just that. For only through consistent Bible study and prayer do you gain the spiritual strength to navigate each day with wisdom, grace, and integrity.
Offering significantly more than the typical thematic or topical anecdotes of some other devotionals, the in-depth Bible exposition of this daily study gives you a firmer grasp on many of the great passages of Scripture--passages that speak at length of Christian character, the meaning behind Christ's death and resurrection, and how we benefit from life's trials.
After a year in God's Word with this book as your companion, you will find that both your walk with Christ and your faith have grown stronger--all because you committed yourself to a daily, in-depth study of the Scriptures, and to learning more about the God who is your Strength.

A PRESENT HELP IN THE TIME OF TROUBLE Mar 18, 2006
I had this book for about a year before I truly started to read it daily. Not that it wasn't good, but my walk with Christ was shaddy at best. Then I started to hit rock bottom & a prayer partner asked me about my daily devotion with Christ & I said I didn't have one but I have this book. He didn't have this book but had Jonh MacArthur's Drawing Near & he loved it. So he suggested that I start a daily devotional & that we give this book a chance. This was my present help in the time of trouble. We started in February 2005 & it talked about unconditional LOVE. I didn't know what all of this meant or why I was reading on unconditional LOVE until in mid March my wife shared with me that she has been unfaithful. Yes I was mad, angry, hurt, & upset but all I could remember is the unconditional LOVE I just read about in February and how Christ LOVE me & I knew God was testing me to show that same LOVE toward her. It has been 1 year since she told me about her unfaithfulness and we are still together. This book helped guide me through those difficult times & so many others throughout the year. I have a much better understanding of true scarifice, unselfishness, loving through hurt/pain, trusting God, how to lean on Him, & examples of those who did it in the bible.
Get this book, it will & can make a difference in your life.
A Solid Devotional Dec 23, 2001
Some one at my church recommended this devotional to me. I was glad they did. There are several important features to this text that make it well worth using. First, it is well written. The discussion of the scripture verse is at times insightful and instructional. The thoughts are very easy to read, yet substantive. Second, additional verses are provided. As you work your way through the year, you could make this part of your daily study time. After reading what is written in the devotional itself, you can then go on to search the scripture further. This makes the devotional not a substitute for reading the scripture, but a compliment to it. No matter how good a devotional may or may not be, it should never replace the reading of the Word. This adds to that reading.
Finally, there are suggestions for prayer. The suggestions assist the reader in meditating on what that days reading may have meant in his or her specific life and how it might be applied. The link between reading the word and prayer is perhaps the most important. We need to have a dialog with the Lord and this text encourages the reader in establishing this dialog.
In short, I really liked using this devotional and I would encourage you to do so as well.
Always There May 8, 2000
Having used this book on many occasions, I have yet to read it all the way through. It has however, always been a help in having a quiet time with God. Being a college student, Strength for Today has come in handy between classes, during lunch time, and even during those late night study hours. The Bible verses, helpful facts, and comments always bring the focus back to God's Word.
