Item description for Drawing Near: Daily Readings for a Deeper Faith by John MacArthur...
Overview A daily devotional guide that uniquely takes an expository, rather than a thematic or topical, approach to Scripture. Each reading provides insight, as well as suggestions for prayer and further study.
"Like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow in respect to salvation." 1 Peter 2:2
It's a fact of life: our health declines if we don't nourish our bodies every day with food and water. That's true physically. It's true spiritually as well.
If we neglect to regularly feed our souls on the Holy Scriptures, our faith becomes weak and we start to lose touch with our Savior. Growth is stifled... if it happens at all.
Drawing Near, used daily in combination with God's Holy Word, can not only help bring you closer to God but also keep you from spiritual stagnation. This book will guide you in a growing relationship with Him.
As Pastor MacArthur says in his Introduction: "Our entertainment-conscious, quick-fix, fast-food society does everything it can to divert us from setting aside time to study God's Word. As you well know from your own efforts, Bible study is not often entertaining--it's hard work. It takes discipline to set aside time each day to reap the benefits such study has to offer. If you reach an impasse when it's time to sit down, open your Bible, and try to decide what to do, you're not alone. Without some plan to follow, it's easy to become frustrated and eventually give up after only one or two days. That's where this book comes in."
If you desire greater understanding of the precious Word of God, if you want a daily guide to draw you closer to the Lord, this outstanding collections of 365 devotional readings by one of America's most respected and trusted Bible teachers is for you

Reviews - What do customers think about Drawing Near: Daily Readings for a Deeper Faith?
The Best Devotional I've Ever Read Feb 1, 2008
I've read a few very popular devotionals by excellent teachers. However, this one tops them all by far. The reason is that this one is exceptionally encouraging...and I'm mean every single passage. In fact, I can't even pick a favorite as each day I am encouraged so much by each of the writings. Pastor MacArthur is very gifted spiritually. I think this is because he uses his God-given gifts until they overflow. Through his ministry, Grace to You, as well as the MacArthur Study Bible, God's grace and wisdom is being shared more than abundantly.
One of the Best Daily Devotionals Jan 3, 2008
This book examines scripture more in depth than most simple devotional books. The same scripture might be discussed for several days in a row. Each day there is also a prayer suggestion and also a "for further study" section.
There are 366 practical daily devotions to provide you with spiritual growth. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a daily devotional.
Best Devotional Today! Dec 22, 2007
If you really want to grow spiritually, it involves daily exposure to God's Word. This devotional will help you accomplish this day by day. There are many devotionals that have wonderful stories that tie into a scripture verse, and it is quickly read, with very little time with God, and out to work we go, with very little spiritual nourishment.
This work by John MacArthur will provide you a healthy feeding every day. He is committed to an indepth approach to bible exposition. And this book does just that, drawing from the main passages he has taught over the years. At the conclusion of the year, you will have gained a firm grasp of many of the great texts of the Bible. So while you are studying verse by verse through a passage, you'll find that each day stands on its own and makes direct application to your life.
A very close friend asked me for advice, he said "I was wondering if you knew of a good devotional book that would get me to think and cause me to interact with the book and the bible. In the past I have read devotionals for 5 minutes said great and off I went feeling that I got nothing out of it and was only giving God a song and dance show. Let me know if you have any suggestions."
My advice to him was easy and without hesitation, Purchase Drawing Near by John MacArthur. You will grow closer to your Lord, and be fed with a healthy feeding on a daily basis. It will be one of the greatest years' in your life! Buy it today!
Great Devotional May 12, 2007
Excellent devotional to help you grow closer to the Lord. Breaks down verses with sometimes more than one explanation. We recommend to anyone who wants to walk closer with God.
BEST DEVOTIONAL I HAVE EVERY READ! Nov 2, 1999
THE REASON WHY I THINK IT IS THE BEST DEVOTIONAL I HAVE EVER READ IS: EACH MONTH THE AUTHOR TAKES A SCRIPTURAL SUBJECT AND TEACHES YOU IN DEPTH. HE ALSO MAKES IT INTERESTING AND THOUGHT PROVOKING. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO HAVE A CLOSER WALK WITH GOD. EVEN READING IT YEAR AFTER YEAR IT SEEMS YOU LEARN MORE.
