Item description for Treasures of the Transformed Life Participant's Workbook: Satisfying Your Soul's Thirst for More by John Ed Mathison...
Overview This powerful six-session program helps individuals and congregations to develop a lifelong devotion to giving as a means to grow spiritually. Mathison emphasizes that a life of giving should not be one of 'have-to's' or 'should's.' Rather, it should be one of freedom, promise, and reward.
Help your congregation to continue their journey of 40 days of transformation. The small group element is a dynamic part of the "Transformed Giving: Realizing Your Church's Full Stewardship Potential" program. Your members have been focused on the daily readings in "Treasures of the Transformed Life." Small groups encourage individuals to share what they are learning and experiencing. It will also help them to begin to see where they can live out the themes of Prayer, Presence, Gifts, & Service within church and the greater community.
The Participants Workbook provides them space to journal about the thought provoking questions raised in the daily readings. It is also a great reference when they are in their small groups/classes.
Each member participating in the study will need a copy of this Workbook, along with a copy of Treasures of the Transformed Life.

A wonderful devotional study Feb 5, 2010
I first heard of this book when one of my church members recommended getting a group together to study the lessons in this book. I have been reading, thinking and praying through each chapter. I like that it is not "preachy" or too fundamental but a real-world approach to deepening spiritual understanding.
Excelled spiritual formation study Nov 1, 2009
As a United Methodist pastor, our church decided on this study for a stewardship series but it is so much more than that. I was thrilled to realize that it took us back to the principles of membership commitment in the United Methodist Church. The only thing missing is a section on witness now that the General Conference made the change to the membership vows. Maybe John Ed could write a supplement to the book to include witness. I would recommend this even as a tool prior to new members joining so they know what is expected of them.
Awesome Oct 20, 2009
We are reading this as part of a churchwide study. I recommend it very highly fro group study or as a solo read. This book is so easy to read but at the same time it is very insightful. I am even using it with my teenage youth group. This book has lessons for all ages and stages of faith. I have underlined and filled all the margins with notes. The chapters are the perfect length for a daily devotional or it can be read all at once. My journey with God has definitely benefited from this wonderful book.
Great book! Sep 25, 2009
Reading this book as a group at my church and the pastor is tying in services with it. It has offered some great insight for forming community and my part in it. Great read. Set up in 40 mini-chapters to read 1 a day.
