Sermons of John Calvin in Modern English Nov 9, 2003
The sermons which Calvin preached to the French refugees in Geneva in the 16th century are as relevant today as when he preached them. The language is simple but the themes are profound. The semons cover all the principal themes of biblical theology, from election and reconciliation with God to the effects of divine grace in the believer's life, and the hope of glory, which becomes a reality already in this life. Calvin was a true pastor with a warm and loving heart for his flock that gathered daily in St. Peter's church to hear his brilliant preaching. This is a beautifully crafted book that can be read with much profit by pastors, seminary students, and lay persons who want a deeper understanding of the doctrines of grace. In the included sermons Calvin expounds and applies well known texts from 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus.
