Item description for Genesis (Geneva Commentaries) by John Calvin...
Overview Because Calvin was a sound exegete, little of what he wrote is dated. Althought his treatment of the early chapters is thorough, it is not disproportionate, and the later narratives concering Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph are not passed over hastily. Indeed, Calvin excels in bringing out the principles of God's dealings with men, as individuals and in covenant, and in showing faithfully yet tenderly the human weakness and sin all too evident in Genesis.

Reviews - What do customers think about Genesis (Geneva Commentaries)?
Very deep, yet easy to read May 10, 2007
Very easy to read commentary, Calvin had an amazing view of the Lord and His ways, explaining in an easy way God's attributes, election, with an accurate Biblical perspective. This commentaries series put the wisdom of great men of God available for our times. Don't think that modern commentaries are better just because they are written today, God does not change, and Calvin, Luther, Owen, Ryle, Henry and the likes were men of God who showed great zeal and knowledge on Scripture. It truly gives a fresh view of the Lord high and lifted up in each passage. Highly reccomended.
