Reviews - What do customers think about Proverbs 1-9: Wise Up and Live (Lamplighters Bible Study)?
Everyhting I could hope for in a Bible Study Guide Apr 14, 2010
I don't have a lot of time for reviews such as this, but being so pleased with the Lamplighters series and seeing there was no review for the first guide I picked up I wanted to give my two cents.
First of all, as I had read my Bible everyday I began to feel a "little stale." I began to wonder if there was not something out there that could help me get more out of my readings. So I began to search the Internet and found one from a popular series and I ordered it. But when I received it I was disappointed in that it was not a comprehensive study guide. That is, it was not chapter for chapter. I searched the Internet again and was quite honestly surprised that practically all I was finding (for Proverbs) was not comprehensive. I can not understand the logic behind a study guide that is not chapter for chapter, because when one reads the Bible as a part of his daily routine, does he not read every chapter? He doesn't read a book in a hit and miss manner, so why is most of the study guides as such?
So I came across Lamplighters, and I viewed the Table of Contents to clarify whether it was comprehensive or not. It was!
I have been having a great and fulfilling time with it by my side as I read God's Word. It also revealed to me something I had never really thought about: there is a difference in reading God's Word and studying God's Word. Before, I was only reading, now I am studying. I know God wants us to not only read his Word, but to study it.
The Lamplighters Study Guide asks many questions and is very thorough. My relationship with God has deepened considerably because of it, as I now study and ponder and mull over every scripture.
Yes I am well pleased with the Lamplighters Study Guide, and I am confident that the guide for every book of the Bible they have available is wonderful, so this review is actually for all in the series. I just wish the Lamplighters had one for every book of the Bible!
