More About Joegil Lundquist
Joegil K. Lundquist served for many years as a second grade teacher in Seattle's Bush School. She noticed that her students were having a difficult time decoding large words. In the second half of the year she began teaching Greek and Latin root words--not the entire laguages. Her students kept boxes with one note card for each root word that they collected. Lundquist found that disruptive students changed theri behavior when they grasped the logic behind the derivation of English words. All students became more confident. One student, in the hospital for an operation, wrote back to class and decoded medical terminology he had heard.
Joegil K. Lundquist currently resides in Seattle Bellevue.
Reviews - What do customers think about English from the Roots Up Flashcards, Vol. 2?
Easy Language Study! Sep 14, 2007
I was so happy to see volume two of these cards available. I have used volume one for years. I can't think of a more easy, effortless way to enhance vocabulary studies, foreign languages, or even science (classification). When the kids know these roots, they can figure out the meaning of so many words; it is just amazing! My students test really high in vocabulary and I give these little items credit for a large part of that (also reading lots of GOOD books).
