Item description for Sling Creek by Joe Garner Turman...
A WAR HERO IS MURDERED AT SLING CREEK The rollicking, fun-filled summer of eleven-and twelve-year-old Bud and Joe Tanner is suddenly interrupted by this terrible crime. They know who was at the scene of the crime on the night of the murder, but the murderers threaten them to keep quiet. Their friend and neighbor, Roy Ransome, is arrested for the murder. Bud and Joe know that he is innocent. Will they join in on the conspiracy of silence that has enveloped the Midday community, or will they have the courage to speak the truth and stand for justice? Sling Creek challenges its readers to speak the truth and to stand up for what is right and just in every life situation. Sling Creek is a rare blend of humor, adventure and suspense, with moral and spiritual input. It will leave its readers feeling good about reading it and wondering when the next Bud and Joe book is coming out.

Reviews - What do customers think about Sling Creek?
Hard-to-put-down adventure Feb 19, 2010
Sling Creek has the nostalgic goodness of Tom Sawyer and the adventurous intrigue of the Hardy boys. You will want to stick with the story to find out how the murder mystery ends. I liked it because it gave me a good sense of what small-town Southern life was like in the mid 1940s. I think you will find it an uplifting read for young and old alike.
Fantastic book Jan 12, 2010
I loved the book. It kept both myself and the kids on the edge of our seats. We have three kids (13 years, 11 years, and 8 years old) and they all enjoyed it. My two older boys were especially attracted to the plot and action. We loved the scene where grandmother cleared the fence in a single bound....(you'll have to read it to see). We laughed until we cried.
Highly recommend this book to all readers who enjoy good clean adventures.
