Joan Fontcuberta was born in 1955 in Barcelona, Spain, where he continues to live and work. Since the mid-70s he has been a photographer, curator, writer, teacher, and publisher. He has exhibited extensively in group and one-person shows at museums and galleries in the U.S., Europe, and Japan, and his work is in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, New York; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and The Art Institute of Chicago, among many others. He contributes regularly to scholarly journals and has published numerous books, including Sputnik and Twilight Zones. Joan Fontcuberta is an artist, writer and curator based in Barcelona, Spain.
