Publishers Description This book details how God used a woman's 2 1/2 year struggle with lung cancer to teach our church what the body of Christ is really meant to be and how it should function. Our experience of learning to love this family through our actions brought revival to our church. This story also includes the lessons of faith that the Lord was teaching me at that time, preparing me to pastor. Finally, it includes my thoughts and insights on what the Bible says about what the body of Christ is and how it is supposed to function.

Reviews - What do customers think about The Body of Christ in all her glory?
Portrayal of a true Church Jul 12, 2009
The way we "do church" is something I have struggled with for a long time. Are we really functioning as a body the way Christ intended? I even struggle with the language that Christians use, such as "Go to church." It makes church sound like a place, or a time on Sunday morning. How did that happen? We are the Church!! More than the story of one woman's cancer, this IS the true story of a real New Testament church in current times. A body, a family, a community that is doing life together! I especially appreciated the Epilogue, "Pastor to Pastor: a Pastoral Perspective." A must read for every pastor who leads a body of believers! This story gave me hope that there are churches (and by that I mean believers) that are not just going through the motions of going to church but are really experiencing what it means to be "the body of Christ in all her glory!"

This book is the account of the pastor's spiritual journey through the trials and experiences of one member of his congregation who battles cancer and some of his family's personal struggles through financial struggles that befall all of us. This book shows how to be in the Body of Christ through service to one in need. The ultimate question of 'what would Jesus do'? and how we serve him and live in his light are embodied in the story of this book.
"Friendships are valuable and when you are a Christian, a friendship with a brother or sister in Christ is of great value. There is a saying that goes, "blood is thicker than water and a kindred spirit is thicker than blood.: I have met a complete stranger who is a brother or a sister in Christ and because of the bond that we share in Christ, in just a short amount of time I have found that we have become close friends, sometimes even closer than my biological family. In Ecclesiastes 4:12 Solomon wrote on the value of friendships in helping us as God's people to fight our common enemy: "And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart." I believe a friendship in Christ is something that we should never lose but rather keep for life." Excerpt from book.
What does it mean to accept who you are in Christ? How does one prepare to meet Jesus? What does it mean to be part of the body of Christ?
These and other questions are contemplated through this story well-woven by the author. Sometimes a tear will fall and sometimes you will laugh out loud at the stories and their end and a heartfelt story is told here.
The Body Nov 11, 2008
The author and parishioners of Cresant Heights Fellowship learned first hand the meaning of Scripture that speaks of born-again believers and their part within the Body of Christ. Their personal knowledge came directly when church member Betty Ferrel was diagnosed with lung cancer and given only weeks to live. The author witnessed the true meaning of what the Body of Christ is and the strength that the Church was given when the congregation pulled together in prayer, became one in spirit, and took on responsibilities for Betty's family and for each other. Betty's battle with cancer and ultimate death was a lesson for all involved. Her own inspirational testimony is included, as well as Scripture from the Bible that is the foundation for this teaching. An enlightening book.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The story that related how as Christians interact as the body of Christ, was encouraging and real. The lessons interwoven through out and at the end of the book were thought provoking so that the books meaning stayed with you after finshing the book. Loved it!
