Reviews - What do customers think about Writing for the Soul: Instruction and Advice from an Extraordinary Writing Life?

Great Encouragement  Dec 13, 2008
This is a great encouragement to the writers who are serious about getting serious. while he is a fiction specialist his principles are general enough to apply to all writers. His words are solid and he is a good teacher. This is a must read for all writers.
Good Read, Good Advice, And Great Tidbits  Oct 30, 2008
I'm not even finished with it yet. But, I'm hooked. This is a well-written book on the art of writing. It has a lot of good information and advice. Plus, he added a few tidbits about some of his own writing experiences including some very funy ancedotes. Thanks, Jerry.
A good read for non-fiction AND fiction writers.  Jul 4, 2008
When I saw that Jerry Jenkins had created a book on writing, I was all over it! What I forgot was that he was a fiction writer. Doesn't matter in this case. Jerry speaks from the heart, and his ideas are great for both non-fiction, and fiction writers.

What is really interesting is Jerry talking about his background. If you love sports you need to read about his career before he became a fiction writer. Extremely interesting, and enjoyable.
Good advice for writers  May 15, 2008
"Writing for the Soul" is at the same time an autobiography and an advise for aspiring writers. Jenkins describes how he has balanced his writing profession with his private life, and here, he finds a balance between autobiographical anecdotes and advice, on topics such as style, discipline to write, contacting publishers.

Jenkins's writing career has been shaped by his love for sports and his Christian faith, and he talks about both in this book. But the book is first and foremost aimed at writers. Being neither a sports fan or a Christian, I still found the book very interesting and inspiring, and often funny. Recommended to Jenkins fans, fans of Christian fiction, and most of all to aspiring writers, Christian or not.
