Publishers Description

With all of the information available about prayer, people wonder how to sort through it all. How do we learn to pray? When should we pray? What do we pray about? In"Twelve Keys to Prayer" Abbot Jerome Kodell gathers down-to-earth points about prayer from the experience of holy Christians through the centuries and shows how they can be used by anyone who desires to grow closer to God.

Abbot Kodell's keys range from true prayer, like true love, is a decision not a feeling," to *prayer is not a matter of thinking but of loving; to *no one with a prayer life says that prayer doesn't work. - Supportive and practical, they remind us that we will learn to pray "well" only after we "begin" to pray.

Jerome Kodell, OSB, is Abbot of Subiaco Abbey in Arkansas. He has written on biblical and monastic topics and is author of "The Eucharist in the New Testament" from the Zacchaeus Studies: New Testament series, and "The Gospel According to Luke" from "The Collegeville Bible Commentary" series of books, published by The Liturgical Press."

Reviews - What do customers think about Twelve Keys to Prayer?

I've been searching a long time for this info!  Jun 2, 2000
Twelve Keys To Prayer is a must-read for all who currently pray, try to pray, or have ever prayed - even just ONCE!

Jerome Kodell has written this brief, yet incredibly well-penned "guidebook" on what prayer should be, can be and actually IS.

In my opinion, prayer is such a personal communication between an individual and God; it may seem as if doing it properly is far beyond one's human capabilities. Everyone you ask will have a different definition of what prayer is, yet, I have never quite felt that I pray "correctly". This book gave me a succinct, Christianity-based approach to prayer.

Twelve Keys shows a practical look at prayer; even addressing the daily frustration of distraction during prayer. I know that I will easily recall and apply all of the "Keys" to my daily prayer life.

This book took me less than thirty minutes to read, yet, provided me with insight that I will use for the rest of my life.
