Two experts who are helping Hollywood's A-list babies get their zzz's share the no-fail, family-friendly method that has helped thousands of sleep-deprived moms and dads.
Even Hollywood's biggest stars face the same dilemma as other parents do: "How do I get my child to sleep?" As parents in the know are finding, whether they're on the red carpet or the soccer field, the answer is the same: The Sleepeasy Solution.
Psychotherapists and sleep specialists Jennifer and Jill, the dynamic "girlfriends" all of Hollywood calls on to solve Junior's sleep problems, have perfected their sleep technique that will get any child snoozing in no time--most often in fewer than three nights. The key to their method? It addresses the emotional needs of both the parent and child (yes, how to handle the crying!)--a critical component of why most other sleep methods fail.
In this much-needed, family-friendly guide, weary parents will learn to define their own individual sleep goals, those that work for their family's schedule and style. They'll create a customized "sleep planner" to ensure consistency with both parents as well as extended caregivers. (As an added bonus, they'll even improve the readers' relationships with their spouses with the "marriage-saver" section.) With comprehensive sections devoted to each stage of Baby's and Toddler's development, plus solutions to special circumstances like traveling, daylight saving's time, moving to a "big kid bed" and multiples, The Sleepeasy Solution is a dream come true!

Good plan but may work best with modifications May 25, 2010
We started this plan for my 4 1/2 month old a few weeks ago. She used to sleep great at night (10 hours straight!) but started waking up quite frequently around the 4 month mark. More problematic was the fact that it would often take hours of bouncing, rocking and nursing to get her to fall asleep at night and transfer her to her crib. Also, lately her naps have gotten so haywire- none of the old tricks were working, at least not smoothly (swing, sling, rocking, bouncing, etc.), so we knew it was time for a change. We decided to go all out and do nights and naps at the same time. While nights worked really well-- she generally cried less than 2 minutes after the 2nd night, the naps were a different story. After 4 days, she was still crying about 10 minutes to fall asleep, and she'd wake up after 40 minutes (on the dot!) groggy, cranky and clearly needing more sleep. So, to minimize crying and maximize daytime sleep, this is what we did: 1) we continued with night training for the rest of the week, but for naps, I used the old methods to ensure that she was getting enough rest throughout the day; 2) after about a week, I started putting her down for naps drowsy but awake and SWADDLED (even though we gave up the swaddling a few months before). Since she already had about a week of practice at night, she rarely cried (more like whined) for more than 5 minutes. However, she still woke up crying after 40 minutes, so I would quietly sneak into her room and help her fall back asleep to complete the nap (rocking, nursing, sling, etc, since patting or shooshing her did not work). Then-- after about a week of this-- 3) she was much more used to falling asleep in her crib, day and night, so now when she wakes up after 40 minutes, I leave her in her room to settle herself to sleep, which rarely takes more than 10 minutes of mostly whining, with little crying. And its getting better every day! SO, I think the techniques in the book are good, but do not offer alternatives if something is not working. You may find helpful alternatives in the No Cry Nap Solution book by E. Pantley. I hope this helps someone!
Depends on the kid May 15, 2010
I bought this book after a friend recommended it for getting our 8 month out of our bed and into his. While the concept of this book might work for some children you need to look at the personality of the child before deciding what method is best for you. My son loves to get rocked, cuddled, and his head rubbed while going to sleep. I dont think this is because of habit but because he just like to feel safe while going to sleep. I tried this book and by night 3 I was getting less sleep than before. He finally cried himself to sleep after an hour on the 1st night but woke up shortly after like he was terrified. This went on for several days, even after I moved him back into bed with us. It took nearly 4 days after starting this method to get him to not be scared to go to sleep. As I said, if you have a child who is not a rocker or cuddler, like some babies are, this might be the book for you. Just please do some research and find what method is better for you and YOUR BABY before deciding.
Of all the sleep books this is one of the BEST!! Apr 28, 2010
My little one was sleeping OK, but I wanted more information on sleeping and how I could help him sleep better if he wasn't by 7-8 mo. This book has a ton of information that explains the sleep process. I read a lot of reviews and I can't see anywhere in the book some of the nasty things people are claiming. I like the 911 guide in the back. Babies need good sleep habits that are consistent and this book gives an idea on how to get started in this difficult area. It is also step-by-step so it's basically fool-proof. Plus, it has a lot of information and resources that you can use.
Easy to read, and actually works! Apr 21, 2010
I've read many, many sleep books, and this is the one that actually works. First, it's easy to read. They give you step-by-step instructions on exactly how to go about sleep training your baby. Second, they segment the book into different ages so that I can apply the techniques to my 6 month old, which would differ for someone else's one-year-old. Third, they provide "what if" scenarios and an FAQ section to cover all the bumps you might experience.
The best recommendation I can give is that my baby can now be put down, wide awake, in his crib and go to sleep on his own. Before, I had to bounce him on a ball for several minutes, try to lay him down on his crib, only to have him wake up and repeat the whole cycle. He's waking up happier, and we're happier because we're not as stressed around the house anymore.
My baby was also not a great sleeper, so I was somewhat doubtful of anything helping him learn to sleep on his own. I don't have those doubts anymore!
IT works, if you follow the instructions! Mar 17, 2010
My 17 month old daughter was sleeping with us pretty much scince she was a tiny baby. I started the Sleep Solution, and she cried about 65 minutes the first night, 12 minutes the second night, and about 1 1/2 minutes the 3rd night. I just laid her in the crib for a nap and she cried for only a few minutes and she was asleep. It is simply amazing! I can finally SLEEP at night with my husband! It works, follow the directions EXACTLY as they are laid out in the book. This book needs 10 stars!!!!!!
