Reviews - What do customers think about Hold On Be Strong?

C&B Reviewer Tanya Bates - Second Chance  May 28, 2006
Tanya's 4 Star Review

Second Chance is the main character in Hold On Be Strong. This brother really is at a point in his life where he is going to have to make some definite decisions about his life. After the death of his mother, his outlook on life really changes. He struggles to maintain relationships with his oldest child?s mother, his half-brothers and his best friend Allen.
He struggles with his brothers because he is understands that they all have different fathers, or so he believes. His relationship with Brenda is in jeopardy because of a discretion with an around the way girl named Moesha. He soon finds out that all is not what it appears to be with Moesha. Allen is his best friend and has always been there for him, however, Second is beginning to question whether Allen is the best person for him to be hanging around.
Jaeyel Imes method of captivating the reader is solid. He gives just enough drama so that you are compelled to continue to turn the pages, but not too much to overwhelm the reader. I can see why this novel inspired the Online Web Drama.
I look forward to reading more from this author.
Jaeyel Took Me by Surprise!  May 2, 2006
I must say that Mr. Imes took me by surprise with this book here. It was a very good book. Very detailed. I found myself laughing, getting mad and also understanding where character Chance was coming from. The struggle and struggles that Chance experiences are what a lot of young men his age go through. They deal with this day to day so for the author to write about it was brilliant! 4 stars!! Can't wait to read more from this up and coming author. :-)
Very good Book!  May 25, 2005
Hold on Be strong is an excellent book for anyone especially for a young black male that feels like he can't do anything because of his past. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and i would love to read more books by this author! Keep up the good work Mr Imes!
Young Male Trying to Survive in The Urban Jungle  Jan 2, 2005
Mr. Imes introduces us to Second the youngest of 4 brothers who just suffered the death of his mother. Second has a prison record, a young daughter, a baby mother, a possible baby mother, a wild best friend named Allen and enough drama in his life to keep you turning the pages. I truly enjoyed Mr. Imes portrayal of a young black man struggling to do the right thing . I look forward to reading more from this up & coming literary talent.
