A Compelling Love Story Set in the "Little House on the Prairie" Era

She ventured west with the man she loved, but in one day her whole world had crumbled around her...

Nineteen-year-old Marty Claridge starts west with her adventurous, boyish husband, Clem, seeking to claim land and hoping for good fortune. But when the venture turns suddenly to tragedy, Marty is left alone with her great loss. And coupled with her grief and heartache is the grim reality that there is no way to return home.

Clark Davis and his little girl, Missie, are also in great need. Clark¿s wife has died, leaving him to care to Missie and the farm at the same time. His offer to Marty comes with good intention, but will courage and faith be enough to bring them to true love?

First introduced in 1979, Love Comes Softly has become a beloved classic in the inspirational fiction category. A generation of readers has laughed and wept and rejoiced with Marty and Clark Davis whose tragic circumstances threw them together on the frontier prairies of the 1800s. More than one million copies of Love Comes Softly have been sold.

And now, the novel that launched inspirational fiction is being transformed into a Hallmark Channel Original Movie, which will premiere April 13, 2003.

Wonderful Series,Interesting,Fun AND Edifying  Feb 6, 2007
I saw the movie "Love Comes Softly" before I knew there were books. I prefer the film over the book because of the interaction between Clark's daughter Missie, and Marty is hilarious,as well as touching, where in the book,Missie is just an infant when Marty and Clark get together. One case where a film is better than the book. I did enjoy the whole series of books, however. They are wholesome, exciting and edifying, which I cannot say for the "Amish-Themed" books by Beverely Lewis, which seems to deliberately portray the Amish in a very bad light.Too much focus on negative characters in her books. Jannette Oke's books will uplift the reader.
I read the best book EVER  Jan 23, 2007
I read this book in three days. It was so good, i could not put it down. This book shows the trials and problems that the pioneer women had to go through just to start over. It also taught me that love isn't just fireworks and butterflies, sometimes you can't even tell when it's there.
