Reviews - What do customers think about More Than 85 Broads: Women Making Career Choices, Taking Risks, and Defining Success--On Their Own Terms?
A little one-sided, but ok Mar 20, 2008
I had to prepare a presentation for a client and used this book as a research tool. As I read it, I realized that it was a very small target reader: very high powered, driven woman. A soccer mom isn't going to read this; a non-college educated woman isn't going to read this; or someone with a serious or chronic illness isn't going to read this. I fall into categories 2 and 3: no college degree and facing illness.
In order to be one of these "broads," you have to go to one of their 85 Core Schools. I 100% disagree that you must be college educated to be successful. In 1999, I started my own business with no business experience. I quadrupled my previous full-time salary in the first 6 months. Less than 3 years later, I made just under $500,000 - all by myself. Does that not entitle me to be a Trailblazer, Adventurer, Survivor, Rocket, or any of these other distinctions given to these "broads"? I THINK SO!
Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying the book is a poor read. That's why I gave it 3 stars. However, it's a little boring at times (as some of the woman get way way way too deep into all the little trivial details) but it can be a good read - if you're the RIGHT audience for the content.

PHENOMENAL Jul 14, 2006
"More than 85 Broads" is more than just a mere collection of stories-- it documents how women overcome seemingly insurmountable difficulties, how they balance work and family life, and how they work towards and accomplish sky-high goals. To say that this book is inspirational is an understatement. I came away from the reading not just inspired, but empowered.
This book is a must-read for anyone who has ever had doubts about achieving success. I highly, highly recommend it!
Pay it Forward! Jul 13, 2006
After reading "More than 85 Broads" I was truly overwhelmed with feelings of awe and inspiration. Not only does each woman have such courage and fire but the progression of the book is magnificent. The best thing I did was to "pay it forward" and buy the book for my mother and aunt - both of whom have been equally touched.
