Royal Treasure w/ a fraction of Royal Jewels Dec 24, 2007
Bought this in this site on-line. I was mis-lead by the title " Royal Treasures" and the front cover Tiara picture and believed that it contained most of the royal "jewelry" treasures! It's indeed a book full of all kinds of royal treasures from paintings to sculptures, furnitures to jewels, only a very small fraction of the royal jewels. But it's still a good reference book with great detailed pictures.
Great Collector of Sevres' Dec 6, 2007
After touring Windsor Castle for the third time and finally seeing the hidden treasures normally closeted away until my most recent visit 3 weeks ago....one of the tour guides encouraged me to buy this book. Wow! As a collector of Sevres I went a little nuts when I saw the huge collection which matches The Wallace Collection and The Frick in NYC. The photographs and the text is wonderful.
Excellent Publication Nov 6, 2006
This book is so informative and visually appealing. The quality of photographs are superb not to mention the scholarly articles written by experts on the arts. This book covers a whole range of british royal collection: paintings, furniture, sculptures, armours, faberge, prints and manuscripts and jewels. It would have been perfect if tapestries were included in the book. Overall, this book is superb!!! it provides information not only on the collection style of english monarchs and consorts but also on the stories of each item in the collection. Great reading! This is a perfect addition to anyone interested in history, english royalty and mere fascination of all things beautiful.
A Treasure for Keeping Oct 10, 2002
I bought this book as a keeper because I was told it was a pretty extensive offering of the collection. Yes, it is that but it is also beautiful laid out and with just enough text for the interested.
If you are looking for a book to educate you on the less seen objects of the collection this is the one to have. An excellent addition to a Buckingham Palace guide.
