Item description for An Invitation To Come by Jan Clark...
Overview Product Description Note from the Author Two angels from Heaven enter into the dark town of Self Absorption, to deliver invitations to seven citizens there. Illusion covers this town in darkness. Evil hides behind the false promise that when you live in Self Absorption, "all your dreams come true." These citizens receive their invitation from the Pursuer of Souls. He invites them to meet Him at Lake Still Water. He asks them to come right away. On their journey, they run into many hardships and troubles. Faith's journey takes many turns, but they learn, that the Pursuer of their Soul is exactly who He says He is. I invite you to join these seven citizens on their journey. Come open the pages of this book and accompany them in their travels. Invite them into your heart. My prayer is that they will find a place in yours. About the Author In 1990, I received my invitation to come meet the Pursuer of my Soul. He led me out from the land of Self Absorption and brought me through circumstances, which revealed my lack of strength, ability, reason and success in pleasing others. He exposed the hole within my heart that He made for just Himself. He showed me how I had been trying to fill that hole with things the world offered, but none of them ever satisfied. Along my own personal journey to Lake Still Water, the Pursuer of My Soul revealed to me His merciful love through the cross at Calvary. He laid down His life that I might have eternal fellowship with Him. He brought purpose, meaning and direction to my heart and soul. He changed the course of my life forever. Jan Clark

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!! Aug 23, 2008
I can honestly say that this is the best book I have ever read!!
Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. The characters in this allegory each have issues that I could totally identify with, from people-pleasing to being hopeless in life. What makes it so wonderful is that once you identify with these characters, you find yourself being healed as you experience each of their journies with them! As they find the answer to these issues, you yourself find hope that brings true healing in your own soul in real life!
You will want everyone you know to read this book!!! It is life-changing and soul awakening! It has so many eye-opening revelations and heart-gripping truths that breathe life into your soul. I was deeply moved and found many moments where I felt my heart healing from past wounds.
If you only read one book all year, it should be "An Invitation to Come" by Jan Clark.
Hope for Broken Lives and Hurting Hearts Aug 14, 2008
"An Invitation to Come" is an exciting allegory, a modern day Pilgrim's progress. The characters come alive as they are faced with discontentment, emptiness, and controversy. Deceived and influenced by the environment and blindness of the leaders of the City of Self Absorption the citizen's sweep their anxieties under the carpet of darkness.
Two Angels from heaven enter the city to bring hope to a few chosen residents. Pleaser, Counselor, Fatalist, Worker, Tuck, Little Bin, and Guardian all received invitations from the Angels to a feast at Lake Still Water. They are invited to come as they are. Each invitation holds a personal promise that a unique need in their life will be met if they accept the invitation. The invitations are signed from the Pursuer of your Soul.
Soon the travelers meet each other, share their story of responding to the invitation of the Pursuer of their souls. In a fast moving dramatic plot Clark paces her story to include battles between angels, spiritual warfare, and the troubles faced on the journey.
The story parallels Jan's own life. Clark responded to the Pursuer of her Soul and was led out of a life of self absorption and called to redirect her life and energies into a life of ministry.
Jan writes with amazing insight into the impact of the downward spiraling path of self absorption. She understands human nature as well as the influence of alcohol abuse and how this translates into further emotional and physical abuse in families and other relationships. Her knowledge of the scriptures comes through in the dialog of her characters and in the deeply spiritual theme of the allegory.
"An Invitation to Come" has a strong evangelistic thrust. It is the hope of the author that the message of the book will be helpful to those well advanced on their journey, those who have just responded to the Pursuer, and to those who are seeking an answer to the purpose of life and the promise of the Pursuer of their souls. The book is highly imaginative, entertaining, gripping and life transforming.
Excellent! Jul 18, 2008
This is one of the best allegories I have ever read! The characters draw you in and you can relate to something within each one. I couldn't put it down! The spiritual connection was beautiful and I loved the "invitation" to accept Christ at the end of the book. I would recommend this to everyone, young and old!
