Item description for Inside, Outside, Upside Down (Bright & Early Board Books(TM)) by Stan Berenstain Berenstain...
Overview A simple tale, using a limited vocabulary for young readers, of how little bear travels to town in a cardboard box.
Publishers Description Brother Bear gets into a box. Papa Bear turns the box upside down, takes it outside, and puts it on a truck. The simple art and rhyming text make this a perfect choice for teaching spatial concepts.
Stan and Jan Berenstain were both born in 1923 in Philadelphia. They didn't know each other as children, but met later at school, at the Philadelphia College of Art. They liked each other right away, and found out that the both enjoyed the same kinds of books, plays, music and art. During World War II, Stan was a medical assistant in the Army, and Jan worked in an airplane factory. When the war was over, they got married and began to work together as artists and writers, primarily drawing cartoons for popular magazines. After having their two sons Leo and Michael, the Berenstains decided to write some funny children's books that their children and other children could read and enjoy. Their first published children's book was called The Big Honey Hunt . It was about a family of bears, who later became known as the "Berenstain Bears".
Over 50 children's books later, Stan and Jan still plan all of their books together -- both write the stories, and both write the pictures. They live outside of Philadelphia in the country.

Great for Beginning Readers! Apr 14, 2007
This delightful classic makes a great first book for the child who is ready to read to him/herself. Its rhythmic rhymes and colorful pictures provide plenty to keep the young reader from losing interest from beginning to end. Its also an excellent book to read to very young children. You may hear them reciting the catchy rhymes to themselves. This is a book well worth buying!
Wonderful beginner book! Jan 8, 2007
This is one my son's favorite books. We started reading it to him when he was about six months old. Now, he's two years old and still absolutely loves it - when we read to him and when he "reads" to us.
Like all Berenstain's beginning books, this book is a wonderful vocabulary lesson. Our son has clearly expressed his understanding of "inside," "outside," "upside down," etc. for the last six months. When our friends and family comment on his impressive comprehension we always say, "It's thanks to the Berenstains."
A bore... Jul 6, 2006
My 10-month old babies have no interest in this book, and they love board books!
TIMELESS Oct 14, 2005
I read this book to my boys 30+ years ago, and am just thrilled to be buying it for a new grandson. I had no idea it was still available new. It is so cute and kids absolutely love it.
Read this book to your child with a big cardboard box May 9, 2005
This book has become one of the favourites of my 18-month old boy. After having read this book to him a number of times, his grandma brought out a cardboard box large enough to for my boy to fit in comfortably. He can now go inside the box and come out of the box and be very proud of himself!
