En mai 2000 s'est tenu a l'universite de Yale un colloque international sur l'oeuvre de Renaud Camus dont le present volume acceuille les contributions essentielles. Afin de rendre compte de la richesse et de la diversite exceptionnelles de l'auteur, les organisateurs ne se sont pas limites aux seuls travaux litteraires, mais ont sollicite egalement des interventions sur les dimensions artistiques, ethiques et politiques de son travail, tout en sachant, bien entendu, que tous ces aspects ne se laissent separer qu'a tres grand-peine dans le cas d'une oeuvre dont l'ambition fondamentale est de parler de tout. des chercheurs qui s'efforcent depuis vingt ans de faire mieux connaitre l'ecriture et la pensee de Renaud Camus. Les debats qui ont entoure cette rencontre, et qui avaient des rapports inevitables avec l' affaire Camus (retracee par l'auteur lui-meme dans son livre Corbeaux, Paris, Les Impressions nouvelles, 2000), sont recapitules dans l'introduction de Charles Porter, principal organisateur du colloque. Professeur emerite de francais a Yale University, est l'auteur de Restif's Novels et de Chateaubriand: Composition, Imagination, and Poetry. Il prepare une etude generale de l'oeuvre de Renaud Camus. universites de Maastricht et de Leuven. Ses recherches portent aussi bien sur la litterature contemporaine que sur les arts visuels. En 2000 il a publie aux editions Rodopi la premiere monographie sur Renaud Camus, Etudes camusiennes. Il a egalement dirige le numero 10 de la revue belge Ecritures, largement consacre a cet auteur (Peeters 2002)

More About Jan Baetens


Register your artisan biography and upload your photo! Jan Baetens is Professor of Cultural and Literary Studies at the University of Leuven. His main research areas are modern French poetry and word and image studies, mainly in so-called minor genres such as comics, photonovels and novelisations. He is the author of some fifteen volumes (among which is a classic volume on Tintin, 2006) and has published widely in journals such as Critical Inquiry, PMLA, History of Photography, Poetics Today, Yale French Studies, Poetique, English Language Notes, Romanic Review, and French Forum. In 2007 8 Baetens was the holder of a Belgian Francqui Chair, and the same year he was awarded the triennial prize of poetry of Francophone Belgium.

Jan Baetens has an academic affiliation as follows - Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium.
