Reviews - What do customers think about Book of the Dead: The Complete History of Zombie Cinema?
The cornerstone of zombie cinema reference Aug 24, 2008
I use this book as the primary film reference for my Zombies class I teach at the University of Alabama. It is complete, concise where it matters, and a lot of fun to read. Also, it has FANTASTIC artwork, both stills from the films and also their promotional materials.
A great work of reference for anyone who loves zombie movies Aug 5, 2008
This book is a must have for any fan of zombie movies or horror fans, the movies are well described and commented, all classical zombies movies are there and various rarities and rarely seen movies, the final result is extremely positive and fullfill a gap in the genre. Anyone searching information on zombies movies will find this book a great help.
Excellent choice for all Zombie hard core fans! Jul 12, 2008
The pictures, the reviews of movies I haven't seen yet... What's not to love? Except for the tragic omission of the movie "Fido", I can offer no complaint. This book reads smoothly and is truly enjoyable! (At least for all those of us who enjoy the genre. I don't suggest you buy it for dear Aunt Mary who is shocked when the neighbor's boy eats lightening bugs!)
Good, but not last word... Jun 15, 2008
An excellent overview of zombie movies, from start to finish. A lot of time is spent on what the author views as "seminal" zombie movies, with a nice inclusion of pre-1950 works examined.Much time is spent on Romero's works in the genre(as should be), and a lot is offered on Fulci, Grau, et al in the chapters on European zombie offerings. The author glosses over cheapjack American zom-coms, which is deserving. Altogether, a very good essay on zombie cinema, and should be in the library of any serious film student of the zombie genre!
If you love Zombies, then you'll definitely love this book! Apr 9, 2008
This book is awesome! It talks about almost every zombie film ever made up to 2005 including Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Revenge of the Living Zombies, The Evil Dead, Dead-Alive, Resident Evil, White Zombie and much, much more. It shows posters of zombie films, and give brief plots of every zombie film! A hard-core zombie lover will enjoy this!
