Item description for The Visit of Nicholas: Recapturing the True Meaning of Christmas by James G. Cobb...
We are all familiar with the red-and-white-clad "jolly old elf," with his jelly belly and bags full of toys. But who was Saint Nicholas -- really?
And what would Saint Nicholas say if he could see the way we use his image to celebrate Christmas today?
This charming one-act play, written for four children and adults, as well as chorus and solo, remembers the beloved Bishop Nicholas of Christmases long ago, and challenges young and old to remember the real gift of Christmas as we celebrate today.
The simple staging and costuming, and a minimum of memorization, make this an easy-to-produce supplement to your worship service.
