Reviews - What do customers think about Catholic Prayer Book-Large Print?
Good, solid Catholic prayer book Apr 21, 2008
Has all the basic prayers as well as the rosary, novena and more. Patron saint prayers along with excellent selections from St's Augustine, Aquinas and the Psalms. This edition features an excellent typeface that is easy to read even in low light conditions.
Take it with you Apr 3, 2007
This little book contains an amazing number of prayers. Included are selections from the saints, the order of the Mass, the psalms, and other books of Scripture. The language of the prayers is refreshingly free from graceless 'inclusive language.' Best of all, its pocket size -- the book is no larger than a pack of Dentyne gum -- allows you take it with you anywhere. One of my personal favorites is Cardinal Newman's 'Short Trip to the Blessed Sacrament,' excerpted below:
"I acknowledge and confess that I kneel before that Sacred Humanity, which was conceived in Mary's womb, and lay in Mary's bosom; which grew up to man's estate, and by the Sea of Galilee called the Twelve, wrought miracles, and spoke words of wisdom and peace; which in due season hung on the cross, lay in the tomb, rose from the dead, and now reigns in heaven."
Here's a suggestion for the publisher: Pope Benedict XVI has called for the faithful to reembrace the Latin language during prayer. Why not include a handful of prayers in Latin, e.g., the Pater Noster, Te Deum, Gloria Patri, Ave Maria, in subsequent editions?
A must have Jan 19, 2007
This is a must have for any Catholic. Not only is it a great tool for prayer and mediation, conveniently sized to fit in any purse or pocket, but it is a great reference too. it includes a lot of tenets of our faith too, from the Corporal and Spiritual works or mercy to the Cardinal sins and 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit. It even has a section on how to go to confession.
