A real blessing! Apr 26, 2007
While in no way a replacement for a good study bible, the Clear Word Bible is the best paraphrased version I've found. For study, I find that reading the text in the Clear Word prior to diving in to my study bible greatly enhances my understanding and what I take away from the study. While the Clear Word will certainly have its critics -- as do all paraphrased versions -- if one accepts it for what it is intended to be, you will find this to be a beneficial study aid and a pleasure to just read. I've also found it to be an excellent introduction for non-Christians seeking an understanding of Christianity without all the "heavy language" of the full text; highly recommended!
an enlightening paraphrase Jun 2, 2005
The Clear Word is meant to be a paraphrase of the Bible (similar to The Living Bible), NOT a replacement of a version of the Bible such as the NKJV. It should be used as a companion when reading such versions of the Bible as NKJV, NIV, or RSV.
Clear mean understandable May 7, 2005
I have enjoyed The Clear Word since it was introduced. Because it is so readable I find that I spend more time reading it. I do compare verses with the NIV and the New King James Bibles to get a fuller meaning. But for just pure enjoyment of reading the Bible I find myself returning to The Clear Word, because it is so clear!
The Clear Deception/False Prophecy Feb 28, 2005
What you don't know is that Jack Blanco is a Seventh-day Adventist whose uses their prophetess (Ellen G. White's )writings in his paraphrases. This book truly belongs in the SDA church along with Mrs. Whites infallable doctrines, not in other denominations to cause confusion. Just another way to seduce unsuspecting Christians into their fold.
Excellent Devotional/Starter Bible Feb 25, 2005
I disagree with the previous person, if you read his introductio in the bible he makes it clear what he does. He specifically says its not a TRANSLATION, paraphrase is different. Yes, its true the bible says not to add or take away - but the context of that verse itself is concerning the laws of God. If Mr. Blanco is merely clearifying and "moderningzing" the bible, how then is he adding to it? This bible has been a tremendous blessing to me. It made the bible come alive and has made me see clearly especially throughout the gospels how jesus was. I highly recommend this to anyone who has considered reading the bible, but has always been turned off by other versions which can lead to confusion sometimes, or frustration over grammar. It really makes things - as it says "Clear".
