Best Spiritual Warefrare Book I've Read Oct 3, 2009
For several years now, I have been trying to seek out and read the best fiction books with spiritual warfare as the main theme. I stumbled on this book in a book store and made a mental note to check it out. So I did, and I couldn't put it down. It was great. A great balance between a character and plot driven book laced with demons, angels, and Nephilim...what more could I ask for? Nothing. I only hope that they'll make a third one!!
Not as strong as Volume 1, but it has its moments Aug 20, 2009
Grant Austin is back as part angel, part human journalist. He is out to disprove and discredit Belial, a demon who has descended upon the Mount of Olives, pretending to be Jesus. He validates a recently discovered satanic document that declares Christianity to be a joke. Jesus was allegedly a man from another planet who came to earth and pretended to be the Jewish Messiah. The document even explains where one can find Judas' 30 pieces of silver, and other NT artifacts.
But Grant knows that this is a satanic deception, so he receives weird teaching from Abdiel the archangel about how to fight demons by passing through walls and learning to parry their sword attacks.
The book is weird. Plus, there are loose ends that remain loose. What happens with Grant and Sue? Does Jana ever come to know Christ? What about Christina? It has its moments, but this book is nowhere near as powerful as Jack Cavanaugh's other novels. Jack seems to be far more comfortable and in his element when he's writing historical fiction.
Nice sequel. Sep 7, 2008
Enjoyable sequels are always nice to find. Fans will hope for a long series, though I'm not sure how the author can manage that, given the sweeping creativity in his story line.
Incredible! Jul 23, 2008
I've read scores of book since I was just a little kid and few stories impress me these days. I first was introduced to Jack Cavanaugh's work when I read his series with Bill Bright and enjoyed every volume. However, when I started the Kingdom War series I was completely caught off guard. I must say, this series has been placed in my top 5 favorite stories of all time. The uniqueness and creativity of these books is breathtaking and thought provoking. You will find yourself surprised and delighted while reading these books. I would even place them on par with Frank Peretti's Darkness books or Ted Dekker's Circle Trilogy. While there are many spiritual warfare novels that are not very original, this series definitely puts on a different twist. Many thanks to Jack Cavanaugh for his incredible work. To all you book worms out there ever in search of a truly satisfying story. This is one you must read and share with others. No, demand them to read it. They will not regret the investment.
