. These days, colleges are deluged with applications and the college application process has become the most traumatic thing that most students and their parents have ever experienced. Lots of books tell you how to get into college, but this book uniquely provides "emotional, " instead of "tactical," support.
The stories in the book are written by kids who have been there and want to pass on their words of support to the kids behind them. Stories cover topics such as parental and peer pressure, the stress of grades and SATs/ACTs, college applications and interviews, recruiting, disappointments and success. These stories provide moral support and encouragement to high school students going through one of the most stressful events of their lives. Parents will find "Getting In...to College" a great source of support and inspiration as well.
The first Chicken Soup for the Soul book was published in 1993, and became a publishing industry sensation, ultimately selling eight million copies. Since then, more than 150 Chicken Soup titles have been published, selling more than 100 million copies. Chicken Soup for the Soul has won dozens of awards over the past 15 years, and its founders, Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen have become celebrity motivational speakers and authors.

Perspective From Parent Jul 22, 2009
Highly recommend this book both for students applying to college and their parents. My daughter and I both loved the real perspective and insight into the experience. Finally, a heart-felt, real alternative for those how-to-get in books, and the anxiety ridden posts on [..], etc. A great alternative to the usual fare about the subject. It was very helfpul - bravo!
AWESOME BOOK! Mar 11, 2009
This book is a wonderful read! It covers so many aspects, including a chapter with stories written by the parents of the prospective students. I would definitely recommend it!

Maybe it's just me, and it's possible don't find inspirational books that helpful, but this book did not help me much. I was still left with the same anxiety that I felt before I bought this book. (Until I got accepted to college of course), but it seemed that the sections dealing with the timespan waiting for your decision was lacking. It either gave inspirational stories or getting in or not getting in.
I myself, did not find it very useful, perhaps someone else will have more luck
