No Secrets, This Is a Fascinating Trivia Book Aug 16, 2005
I picked this book up expecting it to be something like The Bible Code, but in fact it is a trivia (question and answer) book about the various "mysteries" in the Bible, such as the famous "666" person, but also just anything mystifying, such as miracles, angels and demons, the "eyes" of God, the Holy Spirit, even things like the ark of the covenant (remember the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark?). I'm assuming this book is intended as a sequel to The Complete Book of Bible Trivia, since it is the same format but covers new ground. If you're not that much into the question-answer format (I am, obviously), you will probably enjoy the introductory sections to each set of questions, since the book provides some helpful info about the various topics, and without sounding like they were written by a college professor. Part of the fun of this whole series of books is that they aren't afraid to have a little fun with the topics--for example, a section dealing with the various pagan gods in the Bible is titled "Gobs o' Gods." I mean, the book is reverent enough but also has a sense of fun too. I think it is a neat book just to browse through, probably would be good for pastors or Sunday school teachers too, since the questions might serve as starting points for sermons and lessons.
