Reviews - What do customers think about New Testament Stories from the Back Side?
Great Study Group Book May 7, 2010
I have been leading a Sunday School class using many of Kalas' books. The members of our group really enjoy the author's thought provoking ideas. Kalas makes it very easy to relate the scriptures used in his books to our every day lives.
We have found that there are some books that may be particularly helpful to read during certain religious seasons. New Testament Stories might work best if started just after Christmas since it begins with the birth of Jesus. Chapters 9 - 12 discuss the Easter story.
In addition, Kalas' Old Testament Stories would fit perfectly if started in the fall and scheduled to end with the final chapters discussing the Christmas story.
We started our study group with the Ten Commandments From the Back Side, another Kalas book I would recommend. All of these books have easy to follow study guides.
Ellsworth 'From the Backside' Apr 11, 2008
Pastor Ellsworth does an admirable job of bringing Real-life situations into perspectives in the application of Scripture. In a series of books he has administered his Godly wisdom into a logical separation of titles, from the "Ten Commandments" to Old & New Testament Parables. For example he uses illustrations that are not commonly found in most Bible companion series, anywhere I've found. Pastor Ellsworth's personal anecdotes such as getting stranded in the 'bad' section of town with an automoble broken-down, and being helped by two accommodating gentlemen which he finds out through conversation they are employed by a Nude-Girlee emporium, and Pastor Ellsworth is reminded of the story of the Good Samaratin. The books are filled with illustrations that are rarely ones you've heard in Sunday School, but ones that present a genuine and honest application of the Christian Faith.
