This book was so thought provoking. I read it twice reflecting over and over on the scriptures give. The only thing I saw wrong was a referenced scripture quoted in Psalm 25:37 and there is no Psalm 25:37 so I am trying to find out where that scripture is. My favorite part was the story of the widow and the vessels and oil. I went back and read it over and over asking God what I could do to give him something to work with. All in all it brought me closer to the Lord and strengthened my prayer life. Highly recommend it and get one for someone you love too!
If you're in a painful place, this book will move you; it did me. May 16, 2009
This book's title grabbed me because I, like many I suppose, am in a long battle in my life where things have not improved -- 5 years to be truthful. Reading this book changed my perspective on what this has all meant, what it is, and that it's not permanent, that God is using what's happening to you for a reason, to elevate you, if you handle it correctly.
Change your mindset, see your situation for what it is, use what little you believe you have working for you, use your seed and know God loves you. Works plus faith, plus patience.
There is more but for brevity I won't share now.
The book is not about positive thinking and merely thinking your way out of your present reality. Instead, it's biblical perspective, and illumination that you do have the beginnings of what you need to rise above where you are and land where you should be.
This is a short book -- 119 pages -- and it's written in a conversational style, not overly scholarly, but it's not a book that you can read in one sitting because the information is so powerful it requires meditation. The positive is this is a trait of excellent concepts and writing on behalf of the author. You don't want breezy when you want change and you don't want to get bogged down over dry, non-applicable content either. This book escapes those desire-killing characteristics of reading.
I highly recommend this book. If you're a believer in God this is highly recommended. I highlighted much and feel empowered after reading it.
