Reviews - What do customers think about Revelation: A Self-Study Guide?
Discovering the Bible for Yourself Sep 11, 2006
Irving Jensen Study Guides do an excellent job of guiding the student into a structured analysis of the book being studied. The point of the guide is to provide guidance and organization to study so that the student can come to their own interpretation and understanding of the Scripture, not to provide the author's interpretation to the student. An added benefit of using the study guide is the development of analytical skills that are transferable to any venue calling for the analysis and interpretation of complex written material. This is especially important in a society where the emphasis in education appears to be teaching "what" to think as opposed to "how" to think.
classic study guide Jul 17, 2005
This is a classic study guide. It is, however, too short to provide a clear understanding of this complex book in the Bible. I would recommend Revelation: Four Views : A Parallel Commentary by Steve Gregg and Revelation by Craig Keener for further study.
Great guide for raising questions... fewer answers. Apr 6, 2000
I recently participated in a small group that used Jensen's guide in a study of Revelation. The general consensus seemed that while this book was excellent in creating questions pertinent to a fairly detailed study of Revelation, this guide was frustratingly short on answers. For this reason I think that the Jensen guide is best used in conjunction with other research materials from which to find answers. However, for a small group that is looking for specific and meaningful ways to provoke discussion about the book of Revelation, I would recommend this study guide. I have no doubt that this guide is written from a Christian perspective and it encourages insights in that direction. Overall, this guide is a fine resource, but a bit lean as a complete work.
