A Walk In The Park Aug 10, 2008
I am extremely impressed with this book. I happen to be given the book personally by Mrs. Alexander after having sold her husband a sports coat at J C Penny's. I enjoyed talking to both Mr. and Mrs. Alexander very much, and found that they had an uplifting energy that was immediately contagious. After I let Mr. Alexander know I was a creative writing major at UNT his wife told me she would love for me to read her book. I've been reading it slowly as to really reflect on the individual passages, and I am more certain than ever that God puts people in a certain place for a reason. I was in that store that day so I could receive this book. It is a great easy read with profound and uplifting observations. Mrs. Alexander uses her personal experiences as proverb-like metaphors that relate to passages in the bible. Whereas some books simply draw from doctoral degrees, every aspect of mentorship in this book comes from a seasoned Christian- a student of the Lord- The book covers many aspects of everyday life and becomes very intresting in it's candor and reflection. The individual stories are fresh and to the point, and also at times very humorous. A great book for anyone who wishes to better their relationship through Christ. -Nick Bridwell
