Register your artisan biography and upload your photo! San Ignacio de Loyola nacio hacia 1491, en el castillo de Loyola en Azpeitia, Guipuzcoa. Su padre, Bertran, era senor de Ofiaz y de Loyola, jefe de una de las familias mas antiguas y nobles de la region. Y tambien su madre, Marina Saenz de Licona y Balda, provenia de la nobleza. Inigo (ese fue su nombre bautismal) era el menor de ocho hermanos y tres hermanas. Muy joven lucho contra los franceses en el norte de Castilla. Pero su breve carrera militar termino el 20 de mayo de 1521, cuando una bala de canon le rompio la pierna durante la lucha en defensa del castillo de Pamplona de una incursion franco-navarra. La recuperacion fue larga y dolorosa y con resultado negativo al haberse soldado mal los huesos. Entonces decidio volver a operarse y soportando el dolor como una parte mas de su condicion de hombre puro. Durante su convalecencia Ignacio leyo los libros La vida de Cristo, y el Flos Sanctorum, y bajo esta influencia su vida cambio.
