Item description for Lifegiver by Hyper Static Union...
Overview Birthed in high school music classes and Northwest garages and raised on a heavy diet of classic R&B, Seattle grunge and melodic rock ?n? roll, HYPER STATIC UNION enters retail May 9 with an album that is intensely original, instantly memorable and immensely compelling. HYPER STATIC UNION was first discovered by Grammy-winning band Third Day, which has chosen HSU to be the first release from its own Third Day Productions. Third Day Productions recently forged a partnership with new Rocketown Records imprint, RKT, to release debut CD, Lifegiver, guaranteeing HYPER STATIC UNION as a major priority for Christian music gatekeepers this summer.
With influences ranging from Parliament to Led Zeppelin, from Seal to Sade to Sting to Steely Dan, it?s easy to see why Shawn Lewis (guitar/vocals), Ray Burnham (drums), Mike Jackson (bass) and Bryan Albrechtson (guitar) don?t want to limit their sound to just one definition. Instead, this four-piece act from Vancouver, Wash. crafts its own style of pure musical excellence and significant lyrical impact, sure to impress and capture the high school/college crowd. Prepare to meet HYPER STATIC UNION, the band that will redefine modern rock.
"This band is unlike any other out there. Shawn Lewis is hands down the most talented guy I know. And still, it's not just one of those bands with a main guy surrounded by whoever just to fill in the holes. Each guy brings such a vital part that adds to an exciting sound and live performance. People can expect to be rocked by the music and challenged as well by a lyric that is not compromised or stale. This is something totally original." ?Mac Powell (Third

Wow Jan 22, 2007
A rumor had crossed my path several times over the past 6 months about a new band with a strange theologically-inspired name that was somehow linked to Third Day, who I grew up listening to and still regard as probably the best band in the land of CCM. So I found myself searching around myspace the other day looking for new music to demo and was fortunate enough to find Hyper Static Union's page. Being a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, I have random moods of needing some funk in my existence. Now RHCP, they're not, not even close, but HSU holds their own musically better than many artists I've heard in CCM lately. As musicians, this band is extremely tight, and seem to possess a desire to be creative and innovative in their genere, that being CCM pop-funk. Lead singer Shawn Lewis holds his own as a formidable frontman, showcasing a commanding vocal presence that holds the ear of the listener. Not a bad debut album from a band that I'm quite curious to keep track of in the upcoming years.
Summary: If the vocals don't hold your attention, the tight pop/funk hooks will.
Catchy, Upbeat Christian Pop/Rock Jan 21, 2007
I had never heard any of Hyperstatic Union's songs until recently. I had heard of the group before (that Mac Powell of Third Day really liked them). That was enough to interest me.
Before I had checked them out, my daughter bought this CD. She kept singing and playing 'Praying For Sunny Days'. It was a very catchy song.
I borrowed her CD and listened to it, and listened to it again, and listened to it again. There are several other very good songs besides the one that I had heard originally. Their sound is quite different from anything else that I have heard. It features good vocals, great melodies, interesting instrumentation, and solid Christian lyrics.
If you are interested in listening to something new and haven't heard Hyperstatic Union before, I recommend giving them a try.
Thank's Mac Nov 20, 2006
I saw these guy's lastnight. It was the last concert of the tour and it ended here in Atlanta. It was Sold Out, I didn't know who was opening but I'll never forget who it was. HSU,... not sure what the name means but BOY this band was GREAT. Fresh new sound in Christin Rock, Great with the crowd, had people on their feet on the first song. This CD is a must for any real true rock/funk/blues musician.
Amazing! Oct 20, 2006
Got this CD at one of their concerts - if you get a chance to see them live go! They were all out in the hallway of the arena to sign autographs for quite a while which was really cool too! Great funky get 'em go music. It's a pump up kind of album. Best [...] dollars i've spent in a while!
Pretty Good Sep 18, 2006
If you're looking for something different and you like a mellower rock style then definitely check these guys out. They're pretty good.
