Reviews - What do customers think about Fit To Be Tied?

great book  Aug 9, 2006
this is an excellent for anyone that is either in a relationship or plans on being in one. great read, great practical advice. a definite must read
Great preparation for marriage!  Sep 1, 2005
This is an awesome book. It covers all the bases. It suggests a lot of issues to talk over with your spouse-to-be. It really helped my husband and I to not find any surprises when we were married. We felt like we knew what to expect, because of all the discussions we had prior to marriage, especially those that came as a result of this book. I would highly recommend it! It's great!
Great book! A must read for anyone in a relationship.  Aug 2, 2005
Great, down to earth, solid recommendations in this book for anyone who's in a relationship/planning for a good solid relationship.
Fit to Be Tied: How NOT To Do It  May 25, 2005
I have to agree with Zossima on this one. My wife and I (now married almost 6 years) were given this book as 'assigned reading' when we were going through our premarital counseling. I have always found myself wondering if the pastor gave it to us because 1) he thought the advice was good, or 2) to show us how NOT to do things.

The points are mostly good but some of the advice I must respectfully disagree with, i.e. making an engagement period a minimum of one year for everyone. They also tell women to look out for men who are lukewarm believers who talk the talk but don't walk the walk. Does the same not apply to rock-solid Christian men looking out for women who are the same way?

While I have tremendous respect for Bill Hybels and the ministry God has accomplished through him, I maintain the same opinion I had when I first finished reading the book almost seven years ago: Based upon their self-admitted immaturity and how they consistently lived on the edge of marital self-destruction, the Hybels really had no business writing a book telling others about how to run a marriage.

It's a good read for couples not yet married. Want a successful marriage? All you have to do is read and look at the way they did things...and then go out and do the exact opposite.
A must read for those thinking of marriage  Dec 1, 2003
Both my fiance and I read this book before we were engaged. The book gives a very realistic view of marriage and the issues every couple will face at some point in their relationship together. Reading the book prompted some very good necesary conversation and reaffirmed that we were "Fit to be Tied"!
