Item description for Just War: by Howard Zinn by Moises Saman, Gino Strada & Moises Saman...
From the author of the classic college campus favorite and perennial seller A Peoples History of the United States comes a short, intense polemic on the political direction of those United States, leading toward what seems to Zinn like perpetual war. Just War is based on a lecture given in Rome, where, as Zinn addressed an Italian audience, a public known for its negative opinions of recent American foreign policy, he could be direct about his own feelings. I come from a country which is at war, as it has been almost continuously: and for that I feel shame. His rousing call to the only just war, the war against war, which concludes that perhaps it will take a combination of factors to end war: but we must all play a part, is a must-read for those who know and trust his work, and, for those concerned about current events and looking for strong and morally driven perspectives, it is an excellent introduction to a great thinker.

More About Moises Saman, Gino Strada & Moises Saman
The visionary historical work of professor and activist HOWARD ZINN (1922-2010) is widely considered one of the most important and influential of our era. After his experience as a bombardier in World War II, Zinn became convinced that there could no longer be such a thing as a "just war," because the vast majority of victims in modern warfare are, increasingly, innocent civilians. In his books, including A People's History of the United States, its companion volumeVoices of a People's History of the United States, and countless other titles, Zinn affirms the power of the people to influence the course of events. REBECCA STEFOFF is the author of more than 100 nonfiction books for children and young adults, and she has adapted several best-selling history books for younger readers.
Howard Zinn lived in Auburndale, in the state of Massachusetts. Howard Zinn was born in 1922 and died in 2010.

POWERFUL IDEAS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES Oct 15, 2006
At only 64 pages, including photos of the event and the introduction by the war surgeon who wrote Green Parrots, this may seem a rather slender volume compared to his earlier book On War which mostly examined WWII and the Vietnam War. Nevertheless its timeliness and passion makes this essential reading for our day.
