Reviews - What do customers think about On The Road To Emmaus?

Great book for those dealing with grief  Feb 3, 2009
After reading this book, I decided to use it as the core of a bible study for people experiencing a loss. The attendees of the class are finding it very helpful. It is easy to read. The questions and ideas at the end of each chapter are thought provoking - encouraging people to move through the grief process at their own pace. I would highly recommend this book to others who wish to do a small group study.
A good gift to a friend who is recently faced with the problems of loss  Nov 9, 2008
Inevitably, one will lose one close to them. What matters is how one deals with it. "On the Road to Emmaus: A Travel Guide for Grief" is a Christian's guide to dealing with the harsh reality of life, the time of grief. Drawing upon the Bible and Hess's own personal experiences, "On the Road to Emmaus" offers much for small group discussion. "On the Road to Emmaus" is a good gift to a friend who is recently faced with the problems of loss.
The Most Helpful and Insightful Book on Grief!  Sep 12, 2008
Having read "On The Road to Emmaus" by Myrlene Hamilton Hess, I found this book to be an incredible journey of tears, smiles, forgiveness, grace and hope. I was touched by the stories of others and, although each relayed a different grief journey, there was a commonality of feelings that felt so familiar. This book was written by "one who knows what grief and loss feels and acts like" ~ in her role as a pastor and from her own personal experiences ~ which made this book so relevant. Although I would not "wish" this grief journey on others, I am grateful to know that I can refer this book as a wonderful resource of comfort, peace and understanding, to others like myself who have traveled down this painful road. ~ Judith Johnnie
