Item description for '77-The Year of Punk & New Wave by Henrik Bech Poulsen...
The first punk album was released in 1977 with The Damned's debut, and era-defining singles by The Sex Pistols and The Clash followed, as well as key records by lesser acts like Buzzcocks and Tom Robinson. '77 is a detailed history of all of the 200 UK punk or new wave artists who released a record in 1977, making the most complete document of the punk scene that thrived before punk's revolutionary spirit burned out.

I nicked off a star because it only covers England and It only covers bands that released their first records in or before 1977. It also has either a bad translation to English (or Henrik Bech Poulsen does not write English fluently). However, it is a VERY good book for arcane trivia about ANY punk band from the u.k. - from the Acme Sewage Company to Zhain.
