An Ideal Gift for Self and Others Sep 8, 2005
This small book with its ribbon marker would be an ideal gift for Nouwen fans or those new to his work. Nouwen, a Dutch priest who emigrated to North America, was a world-renowned lecturer, spiritual mentor, and author of more than 40 books. "His big-screen life and simple, honest writing style resemble a gospel narrative," writes the editor of this collection. There is no story, no theological treatise as such here. Instead, these single-paragraph excerpts together have much to teach us about life, prayer, solitude, community, pain, joy, peace, and, above all, accepting our role as God's Beloved.
