Item description for Zenzile: A Child of Africa by Helen Schuck...

On the Eastern coastline of South Africa, set amongst the sun-drenched foothills of the Amatola Mountains, was a farm, "Umlambo" meaning "place of water". It was on this farm that Zenzile, a child of Africa and member of the "amaXhosa Nation" was born and raised. Zenzi, seven years old, orphaned, swamped by guilt and un-worthiness was spurned by her remaining family, and acutely aware that she was an undesired appendage. But out of her experiences grew a young woman of innate courage and determination; one who would remember the wise words of Umama Onobulumko as they whispered softly through the bushveld, "Zenzi you don't always have to carry around the hard jagged-edged stone, the one that is such a burden and cuts into your hand. At any time you can alter the course of your life, you have the power to choose, to let the stone go and take the smooth, round stone that fits easily in the palm of your hand." Years later Zenzile returns to "Umlambo", in a quest to find healing, and is assisted by the abundant wildlife inherent there. She journeys through the geometric patterns of an African labyrinth, and follows its sacred pathways, that correspond to the seven main chakras of her spiritual body, and the seven seals of consciousness that are enclosed within her mind. The interaction between these very powerful aspects of her being offers great insight, and awareness and results in a wonderful healing experience, as her inner power is gradually revealed. By following this epic journey and traveling alongside Zenzi, we may recall similar experiences, and with the assistance of the healing powers of the Sacred Labyrinth, together with the wisdom of Umama Onobulumko, Zenzi's example could smooth our path, and, as she holds the door open for us, we may pass through and begin to create a life that is complete in joy, peace and wholeness.
