Item description for Christmas Legends to Remember by Helen Haidle...
Overview In this classic storybook, you will find three Christmas treasures to cherish for years to come- * Legend of the Candy Cane * Legend of the Christmas Tree * Legend of Saint Nicholas
Three tales of true Christmas spirit come alive in the hands of award-winning children's author Helen Haidle. Legend of the Candy Cane opens with the lonely candy maker seeking the truth in the Christmas season. As he finds warmth in the laughter and bustle of the village children, a thought occurs: What can he give to show love for those in need? Unexpected inspiration leads to a sweet and meaningful answer. Legend of the Christmas tree recounts the tale of a small, scruffy fir tree with a big heart for helping others. A Special Baby is coming to the nearby village, and the forest is abuzz, but what gift could a small tree give? If the other trees have their way, he won't even get to see the Baby--unless, of course, he's had a gift all along. Catch a glimpse of a real saint in Legend of Saint Nicholas. Wealthy but orphaned at the age of 12, Nicholas lives with his extended family. As his heart turns to giving and charity, his family just doesn't understand. But God calls him to a higher mission, even beyond giving at Christmas time. How long can he keep his giving a secret, and will his family ever understand?

More About Helen Haidle
When Helen was growing up, she never planned to be a writer. Twenty years later she's privileged to be an award-winning author of 45 books. Forty of these books were published with major Christian publishing houses such as Multnomah, Zondervan, Thomas Nelson, Baker Books, New Leaf Press, and Harvest House. Total sales number over 1,700,000.
Together with David, her artist husband, she launched out in 1987 on an assignment they felt called to do - working on a picture book of Psalm 23. When the Haidles realized their own three children couldn't understand the meaning of the words of Psalm 23, although they had memorized it, they spent a year writing and illustrating a picture book to help explain the psalm in depth.
When He is My Shepherd was released in 1989, it won a C. S. Lewis Silver Award. This launched a writing career for Helen and she began writing other picture books, chapter books, devotionals and board books for the youngest children. David transitioned from his fine-art career of lithography and painting large nature images on canvases of 4'x5' and 6'x10.' He learned watercolor and began painting on a greatly reduced format - 11"x16."
Helen Haidle currently resides in the state of Oregon.
