Reviews - What do customers think about Patterns Of Love (Value) (Come To America V8)?
Whoa,Did Not Appreciate The Surprise Of Steamy Sex Version! Jul 7, 2009
For those Christians who try to avoid romance books that are sexually explicit please be warned to especially avoid the version of this published by Harper Books- HarperCollins. It has a different cover(I believe It was beige) than this version shown by Zondervan.
I found and read the Zondervan edition and give it 5-stars! I really love this series, and reading about the immigrant experience, and the friendship formed between these three ladies on the voyage over, and their stories after arriving, and keeping contact with each other.
So compellingly True Oct 30, 2008
Robin Lee Hatcher is a treasure to be able to bring to life such diverse characters in her first three books about finding love in a new country a hundred years ago. Life was more complicated back then, contrary to what we have read in history books. For this Swedish "old maid" of 22 yrs. to actually find a man (not just any man but the most handsome around) who wants to marry her for all the wrong reasons, she spends what little time she can on creating life in quilts, designing her patterns of love in beautiful needlework which sold at the local store.
She is the eldest of five daughters of the pastor, and the plainest. They end up in Iowa and she as a housekeeper on a farm taking care of two young orphans and their grandmother. God's will brought you here, she has decided. Her heart betrays wisdom and enters into a marriage of convenience which turns out to be a marriage made in Heaven. Some things are meant to fade so out hearts won't hurt so much. Remember you loved and received love in return.
This is definitely Mark's story. You wonder who Mark is -- read and believe. She wondered if dreams are a waste of time, but this story is filled with miracles galore and a tear jerker at times. You gave me new dreams. Marriage is no cup of tea. Only the "make believe" kind in 'Showboat' is always fun and games. Love is a choice. Love conquers all. Life filled with true love is the Great Adventure.
BE CAREFULL!! Jul 31, 2008
Make sure you get the type of book you are looking for. This author has written for the Christian market and for the non-Christian market. This book is written in both markets!! I happened upon the non-Christian version, read part of it, and got a big suprise. So make sure you know which type of book you are getting before you buy/borrow it or any other book.
Sweet -the way a love story SHOULD be Jun 19, 2008
This is one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read. Romantic without being racy. A book doesn't have to have pages of graphic sex descriptions to grab your attention. A true author can say enough without having to say TOO much. This story is hard to put down -a real treasure.
Loved This Book !! Jul 9, 2006
This book is second in a series titled "Coming to America". What an endearing story. I fell in love with the main characters. I love how the author gives real insight on the thought patterns of the main characters. At the end of the book I felt like I really knew the characters.
Through timing of events, this book shows the sovereignty of God. How wonderful to witness the change in Dirk Bridger. Inga Linberg is an example of someone who is sacrificial, others focused, and full of love. My heart really went out to her.
This was one of the few books in which I actually shed tears. It's one that is difficult to put down and has a wonderful ending.
By the way, this review is based on a later version of the book published by Zondervan.
